Less Environmental Damage from Leakage
When compared to an equivalent flanged gate valve installation, AVK's factory fitted and sealed PE-tailed pipes present no potential leak paths.
Using best practice installation methods, the AVK Series 36 will create a fully welded and resilient pipeline that will significantly reduce the risk of water leakage and any damage that can be caused to the surrounding environment.
Flanged gate valves can present two potential leak paths because of the two bolted mechanical joints. The AVK PE-tailed gate valve presents no potential leak paths because it doesn't require bolted mechanical joints and the PE tailed pipes are fully welded into the network using electrofusion couplers.
Installs faster with less environmental disruption
As demonstrated in timed trials, the AVK PE-Tailed Gate Valve is faster to install than an equivalent flanged gate valve. Additionally, this AVK gate valve has a smaller profile and can be installed in a narrower trench which causes less environmental damage.
A gate valve that provides faster network installations and causes less environmental damage and disruption will help to support the UK Water Industry to better protect and enhance the environment.
This AVK gate valve can be installed in a 300mm wide trench. In the timed trial, held at McCrae Training, a 500mm wide training trench was used.

When installing a flanged gate valve up to seven plastic bags can be used and will go to landfill. That's right - SEVEN. AVK PE-Tailed Gate Valves have protective pipe caps at the end of the pipe that can be recycled. When electrofusing the valves to pipe the only wasted plastic packaging is the two bags protecting the electrofusion couplers, which compared to a flanged valve installation, results in a 71% reduction in landfill waste.
